(Sarasota, Florida) Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota’s popular "Lunch & Listen" series continues with the soprano and classical guitar duo Corda Voce, Thursday, January 25, at 11:00 a.m., with lunch to follow at 12:15 p.m., at Michael’s On East Ballroom, 1212 East Avenue South, Sarasota. Known for their diverse and lively repertoire, coloratura soprano Jenny Kim-Godfrey and guitarist Jonathan Godfrey perform a dynamic program that includes Delibes’ “Les Filles de Cadix,” Bizet’s “Ouvre Ton Coeur,” French composer Roland Dyens’ “Fuoco,” from the “Libra Sonatine,” the contemporary pop classic “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” and more. Tickets are $47.50, which includes lunch. For tickets and more information, visit www.artistseriesconcerts.org or call 941-306-1202 (Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-4 p.m.).
As Corda Voce (Italian for “string voice”), Jenny and Jonathan have crafted a repertoire of songs not originally written for guitar that make dazzling use of the instrument while showcasing Jenny’s agile coloratura technique. Formed in 2015, the duo seamlessly intertwines the influences of cabaret, classical, jazz, and popular music to create programs that surprise and delight audiences. Both graduates of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, each has extensive experience collaborating with Grammy-award winning performers and performing on stages around the world.
“Whether they’re showcasing arias from off-the-beaten-path classical composers or reimagining mainstay cabaret numbers, Corda Voce makes music that is fun, engaging, sometimes quirky, and always memorable,” says Joseph Holt, artistic director of Artist Series Concerts.
